SPEECH THERAPY & EVALUATION SERVICES

Join us in our home-based, family-friendly, and welcoming clinic in East Brunswick, NJ.

late talkers & language delays

At Schultz Speech Therapy, we take a play-based approach to therapy for our youngest clients. Research shows that young children learn best when they are engaged, having fun, and doing what they do best...play!

Speech therapy for late talkers will engage both parent and child through books, songs, toys, interactive games like hide and seek, movement, and sensory play activities (e.g., sensory bins, water play, play dough).

gestalt language processors

Nicole Schultz is an NLA (Natural Language Acquisition) trained clinician who specializes in working with children who script (delayed echolalia). Using the NLA framework, therapy always honors the child’s unique way of communicating. We also support and encourage multimodal communication and the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

Speech therapy for gestalt language processors will build the skills for self-generated language through activities based on your child's interests.

LANGUAGE DISORDERS

We assess and treat language disorders through an “executive functioning” lens. Oftentimes children may present with weaknesses in specific areas, such as difficulty understanding basic concepts, answering questions, following directions, etc. that are rooted in executive functioning weaknesses. We work to discover the “root cause” of the language problem to fully address your child's needs and build skills that will lead to lasting success.

executive function difficulties

Executive function therapy will help your child build and strengthen skills that will lead to positive changes academically and socially.

Therapy is delivered using neurodiversity-affirming approaches, focusing on strengthening skills as well as parent and child education.

We will begin by identifying the primary challenges impacting your child. Using structured activities, various tools, parent coaching, and home practice programs, we will work on skills including attention, organization, memory, starting and completing tasks, self-correcting, time management, and more.

Nicole Schultz, M.S., CCC-SLP

Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist

Nicole ("Ms. Nikki") is a pediatric speech therapist with experience working with children of all ages. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Binghamton University. Following two years of service in the Peace Corps, she returned to school and received her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Molloy University.

Nicole founded Schultz Speech Therapy because she saw a need in her community for neurodiversity-affirming speech therapy services for kids. She is trained in Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) which allows her to fill the gap in services for children that are gestalt language processors. Nicole is passionate about providing individualized care and attention to each family she serves. She dedicates time to parent coaching and questions and welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with other important people on your child's team (e.g., teachers, other therapists, etc.). She also serves as an advocate for her clients, including attending IEP meetings if needed.

Outside of work, Nicole is a busy mom of 3 small children and is often found shuttling them to and from extracurricular activities. In her free time, she enjoys strength training in her home gym, reading, and exploring local events and activities with her family.
